They don&#8217;t have a pool of talented candidates suitable and ready to fill vacancies.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\">In a recent Lee Hecht Harrison survey of 374 HR and recruitment professionals, the question asked; &#8220;Looking ahead our talent pipeline is:&#8221;, found the following results..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>excellent \u2013 4%<\/li>\n<li>good \u2013 58%<\/li>\n<li>poor \u2013 30%<\/li>\n<li>non existent \u2013 3%<\/li>\n<li>don\u2019t know \u2013 5%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input tinymce_input_focus tinymce_structure_focus\">So while over fifty percent answered answered good, it still means there\u2019s room for improvement. With over a third as either <em>poor<\/em>, <em>non existent<\/em> or <em>don\u2019t know<\/em>, we can see that many companies don\u2019t invest enough time and effort into filling their pipeline.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\"><span style=\"color: #4ea13d;\">What are the advantages of having a talent pipeline?<\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\">You reduce your time to hire. This not only reduces your hiring costs but also means downtime from a skills shortage is reduced. Remember that <a href=\"\/en\/blog\/turnover-costs-much-losing-staff-member-really-cost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> turnover costs more than just hiring a replacement. <\/a><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\"><span style=\"color: #4ea13d;\">So how can you build a pipeline?<\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Strengthen your employer brand <\/strong>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\">Turn your company into one everyone would love to work for. You can do this in a number of ways, including through your <a href=\"\/\/www.viasto.com\/en\/blog\/improve-your-employer-branding-through-your-recruitment-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recruitment process.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engage your communities<\/strong>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\">Keep potential candidates interested and up to date with your company by posting regular updates on your social media platforms. Don\u2019t forget to reply to questions and comments. Let them feel like they\u2019re involved and being listened to.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Past candidates<\/strong>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\">Someone that may not have been suitable a year ago, may now be the perfect candidate for your open position. This is why you should always treat your candidates properly and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.viasto.com\/en\/vi-recruiting-blog\/employer-branding-writing-rejection-letters-not-an-art\/\" target=\"\u201d_blank\u201d\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reject them the right way<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Referrals <\/strong>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\">Your employees know your company, the culture and the way it works. Therefore they\u2019re the best people to know who would fit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Look internally <\/strong>\n<p class=\"tinymce_structure tinymce_input\">Have regular feedback sessions with your employees, find out how satisfied they are, what they\u2019d like to see improved and what their career goals are.
